The inside machinist uses equipment and processes such as lathes, milling machines, shapers, grinders to repair machine parts to manufacturer specifications. 

Duties and Responsibilities of this Position:

Maintain a high level of attendance

Work and complete tasks assigned unsupervised

Read micrometers consistently with low tolerance

Must be able to run all shop equipment accurately and in a timely manner

Set up all types of work inside and outside of the shop

Ability to prepare written mechanical evaluations

Must be able to read and work from blueprints

Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories and materials onto machines

Study sample parts, blueprints, drawings, and engineering information in order to determine methods and sequences of operations needed to fabricate products, determine product dimensions and tolerances.

Requirements of this Position:

         5-10 years of experience in a shipyard machine shop or job shop environment.

         Must have own tools.

         Occasionally lift or move up to 100 pounds.

         Regularly lift or move up to 50 pounds.

         Work in various types of weather conditions.

         Standing for long periods of time.

         Walking, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and climbing frequently for long periods of time.

Educational and Experience Requirements:

High School or GED

5-10 years of machine shop experience
